Here's A "Big Idea"....

Mon Aug 18, 2008 at 10:36:21 AM PDT

Yesterday on NBC’s Meet the Press, host David Gregory asserted that the Republican Party "used to be the party of big ideas." Gregory then asked his guest Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R-LA), "What’s the big idea Senator McCain is campaigning on?" Jindal responded, "I think there’s several," but couldn’t provide an answer. Gregory asked again, "Where are the new big ideas of the Republican Party that John McCain is, is championing?" And again Jindal couldn’t provide an answer.

Limbaugh Attacks Elizabeth Edwards. Unreal!

Thu Aug 14, 2008 at 09:30:59 PM PDT

On the August 12 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, Rush Limbaugh said of former Sen. John Edwards' recent disclosure of an extramarital affair: "I've got a theory about the motivations. Well, I don't know that I could -- I don't know that I can put this one on the air."

But he did put "it" on the air..read below the fold

McCain's Ball Of Confusion

Thu Aug 14, 2008 at 09:17:46 AM PDT

McCain has spent days and days blasting the Russian's for their bullying and belligerence in Georgia. Now, John McCain is admitting that he doesn't know who is to blame for the military crisis there. Below the fold, you can see his admission, in his own words, yesterday on the FOX Nutwork.

We, we will decide in subsequent days as whether degree of provocation and whe-- who was right and who was wrong.

McCain's Quid Pro Quo And His Lobbyist Problem

Wed Aug 13, 2008 at 10:01:48 AM PDT

On April 17, John McCain got on the phone with Georgia President Mikheil Saakashvili about Russian efforts to gain leverage over two of Georgia's troubled provinces. That same day, McCain issued a public statement condemning Russia and expressing strong support for the Georgian position.

And also on that same day, Georgia signed a new, $200,000 lobbying contract with Randy Scheunemann's firm, Orion Strategies, according to the Washington Post.

Today's WAPO points out the obvious quid pro quo of John McCain, Randy Scheunemann and the country of Georgia, and it reports on the conflict of interest that Scheunemann faced while advising McCain on foreign policy matters related to the former Soviet Republic and also working for the Georgian embassy.

Where In The Hell Is Condoleezza Rice??

Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 09:58:31 PM PDT

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has also been noticeably absent on the diplomatic scene, having failed to interrupt her holidays to fly to Tbilisi in support of the Georgian government.

Instead senior State Department official, Matthew Bryza, who oversees the Caucasus region was sent, two days later than planned, to join a joint EU-US mediation effort to win a ceasefire.

French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, who is leading the mediation mission for the EU, said Monday the United States was "in a sense part of the conflict," between Russia and Georgia.

McCain, "I Need More ZZZZ's"

Mon Aug 11, 2008 at 10:48:43 AM PDT

You have to wonder how the McCain campaign can put out a positive spin on this! Has anybody bothered to let McCain know that being President of the United States is a 24/7 job?

John McCain Says He Needs More Sleep

McCain said he would concentrate on getting more sleep when he can.
"If I put in three or four 18-hour, 20-hour days in a row, I'm not sharp. It's just a fact," the Republican senator from Arizona said. "I'm more sharp if I get a little rest."

McCain said he feels best sleeping until 7:30 or 8 a.m., as opposed to his usual morning drill of rising at 5:30 or 6 a.m.
"It seems to help me to get up a little later in the morning," he said, joking, "Sorry to bother with that intimate detail.

John McBush, Rudy & Newt, Maritally Challenged!

Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 06:38:20 PM PDT

Is it fair? Every single news show has been focused for hours upon hours on the Edwards affair, which was confirmed today. How much attention have all the networks given to these presidential aspirants? Presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain (affair, divorce), and past and future hopefuls, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich (affair, divorce, affair, divorce), and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (divorce, affair, nasty divorce). Together, they form the most maritally challenged crop of the presidential hopeful and ex-hopefuls in American political history. Yet, I have never seen CNN, MSNBC, FOX, ABC, NBC or CBS spend one minute of precious airtime on these three adulterers.

Today, the Democratic National Committee is launching an "Exxon/McCain ’08" campaign, complete with a gas-pump logo and garish red buttons, bumper stickers and yard signs.

WOW!! Obama Is On The $100 Dollar Bill!

Mon Aug 04, 2008 at 09:02:44 PM PDT

Andrew Sullivan, Chris Bodenner, and Eli Sanders all note that the McCain campaign's strategy on race is to (a) play the race card and then (b) accuse Obama of having played the race card.

The issue, of course, is that John McCain and surrogates claimed great faux outrage at Barack Obama's lighthearted comment that Bush and McCain would emphasize that "he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills".

But if John McCain thinks that comment was playing the race card, then why did he (McCain) play it first? One month ago, in late June, a McCain ad superimposed Obama's visage on a one hundred dollar bill as part of an effort to mock his supposed 'presumptuousness.'The ad went on to superimpose Obama's face on Mt. Rushmore and the Statue Of Liberty.

News Alert: Bush/Cheney & Anthrax Scare

Mon Aug 04, 2008 at 09:55:44 AM PDT

FBI was told to blame Anthrax scare on Al Qaeda by White House officials

After the Oct. 5, 2001, death from anthrax exposure of Sun photo editor Robert Stevens, Mueller was "beaten up" during President Bush's morning intelligence briefings for not producing proof the killer spores were the handiwork of terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden, according to a former aide.

"They really wanted to blame somebody in the Middle East," the retired senior FBI official told The News.

In the immediate aftermath of the 2001 anthrax attacks, White House officials repeatedly pressed FBI Director Robert Mueller to prove it was a second-wave assault by Al Qaeda, but investigators ruled that out, the Daily News has learned.

Last Call! The "Trash Talk Express" Is Off The Track...

Fri Aug 01, 2008 at 07:13:51 AM PDT

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, John McCain had the reputation of being a maverick politician, a "truth teller," whether merited or not. Reporters and cable news hosts fought to get a ticket on the...  "Straight Talk Express," because they expected to hear the Arizona Senator articulate honest and off the cuff opinions on a variety of subjects meaningful to average Americans. Obviously, those days are over and the "Straight Talk Express" has come to a screeching halt. Ninety-six days from the presidential election, McCain has decided his only hope of beating Barack Obama is to wage a negative campaign frought with lies and half-truths. Hurry... everybody on board the new "Trash Talk Express" for it's final voyage. The train will be permanently derailed as of November 4th, 2008.

WSJ Savages McCain.....

Wed Jul 30, 2008 at 10:41:02 AM PDT

We all must remember that to conservatives, raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans is the equivalent to raising taxes on all Americans. After all--to conservatives--the wealthiest Americans are the only Americans that really count.

One of the miracles of this Presidential election campaign is that John McCain still has a chance to win, notwithstanding his best attempts to kick it away. In his latest random policy improvisation, the Arizona Senator tried to give up the tax issue.

On ABC's "This Week" Sunday, Mr. McCain was asked to draw distinctions between his and the current Administration's economic policy. Given an easy opening, the Senator came back with his usual hodgepodge of new child-tax credits, promises to "veto every single pork barrel bill" and close wasteful government agencies, cut dependence on foreign oil and introduce a gas-tax holiday.
