FIGHT BACK, BARACK!!!

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 04:00:28 PM PDT

I am an Obama Supporter and I am sick and tired of Obama and how his campaign reacts to allegations from McShame Camp.

This Diary will not Help Obama, but it Helps me

Call it my personal catharsis.

There is something rotten in Denmark.  Something is not computing.  Why is Obama campaigning still against Hillary and McCain?  Democratic party, why are you letting this occur?

NBC/WSJ Poll:  Obama 45 McCain 42

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 03:37:39 PM PDT

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/...

This poll has tightened like all the other polls but again Obama is still ahead.  (I personally think that the Zogby poll is a joke).

There is good news and bad news about this poll for Obama.

Check it out.

Head to head matchups:

McCain holds advantages in: handling terrorism (51 to 23%), international crises (52 to 27%), and the war in Iraq (46 to 36 &)

Obama holds advantages in: healthcare (48-27%), the environment and global warming (47 to 21%), jobs and unemployment (47-25%), and improving the economy (42 to 30%) (take that Zogby...LOL)

Voter excitement:

McCain (12% excited, 48% satisfied, 41% lesser of 2 evils).
Obama (45% excited, 36% satisfied, 18% lesser of 2 evils).

Who is closer to your background & values:
McCain (60% yes, 33% no)
Obama (50% yes, 42% no) which is improved

Previous Poll:  Obama 47 McCain 41

Americans Prefer Obama’s definition of Patriotism and

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 03:30:53 PM PDT

Obama finally framing McCain as dangerous and a Reckless Hothead and with all these hand wringing about polls, these what really matters and what win elections. For example in a

poll, conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and commissioned by the True Patriot Network, also finds ..........Senator Barack Obama, actually wins a hypothetical patriotism-centered debate with McCain, if Obama frames his agenda within a narrative of patriotism centered on progressive values.

Obama against the republican party

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 03:21:04 PM PDT

I'm sick and tired of these pundits and, more importantly, democratic party heads calling for Obama to hit back harder.

Where the hell are they?

It's like Obama is out there alone fighting the fight save a few blog spots like this one.

John Lewis - was just named by McCain as one to be admired in that Forum the other day. His response was puny at best. He should have had a huge press conference and tell he's not going to be the objectof his political posturing.

Al Gore - You're talking about everything else. Where are you?

John Kerry - Where are you?

Hillary Clinton - What the hell are you doing?

Bill Clinton - If you can't respect the enormity of what's going on, then you deserve NO RESPECT.

Maxine Waters - You always have words. What happened?

Charley Rangel - Yoo hoo?

John Edwards - OK, you get a break. You have your own worries.

"Quick Draw McCain"   Let's make it stick

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 03:17:22 PM PDT

So many of us have wanted the Obama camp to come out swinging with good clean and hard punches.  Now the newly refreshed Obama camp has been doing that, pushing back on patriotism and the celebrity nonsense, among other themes.

Today they have gone on offense, trying to define McCain as wreckless and quick tempered... Let's help them make it stick.

Only a Foo' Would Write a VP Prediction Diary

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 03:02:36 PM PDT

Within days, or perhaps hours, we will know with certainty who will be Obama's Vice Presidential running mate.

I've read all the speculation and reviewed all the polls -- and to tell you the truth, I like all of the potential VPs mentioned very much. For that matter, I liked everyone in the primaries -- even Mike Gravel. At this point in the election, they would all be attacked by the powerful and effective political weapon of hate and fear. The Republicans have mastered emotional terrorism; the Democratic weapon is issue-based logic. It's Yosemite Sam versus Spock.

I'm much more interested in the political strategies of final battle, so I run scenarios that start after the Republican National Convention. [And they have a very tepid and dangerous mine field of VP possibilities, compared to the Democrats.] None of them compliment McCain very effectively.

The strategy for winning in 2008 is one that neutralizes the Republican hate and fear tractor beam that sucks in the American people every time. And, this is where I "predict" Obama's Vice Presidential pick.

Updated- Why did you support Obama in the Primary?

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:49:30 PM PDT

Lately there has been a lot of dissatisfaction with the Obama campaign around here. While I recognize the concerns and share some of them, a lot of them have me questioning why people on this site largely supported him in the primary. If you wanted someone who would attack relentlessly and often unfairly, then Hillary was the person you should have been supporting. Obama's entire candidacy, maybe even his entire political career, has been based on changing the way the government works. From what I can gather, he's never been prone to confrontations.

I am not saying that we need to have blind faith in him, but I'm thinking that since the guy went from a virtual unknown entity four years ago to the presumptive nominee for President by the Democratic Party means the man knows what he's doing.

Seizing the "Obama Moment": Which Side Are We On?

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:48:00 PM PDT

This post is part of the ongoing "Obama Moment" discussion taking place at the Campaign for America's Future. Check it out here.

The question of how progressives can seize the so-called "Obama Moment," as my colleague Bob Borosage calls it, is an important one - and it is critical that the question be asked right now - before the election, rather than after (This will be the central focus of my questions to Michael Moore in the Meet the Bloggers discussion this Friday). Though the media's horse race coverage and the Left and Right echo chambers "win at all cost" psychology would have us believe that elections are ends unto themselves, our Founders envisioned them as means to ends - instruments by which the people's will is debated, politicians are pressured, and a mandate is crafted.

Media Research Center Lies Exposed about Obama and the Press

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:32:07 PM PDT

Note: I'm the author of a book about Obama, Barack Obama: This Improbable Quest, but I'm not part of the Obama campaign.

The far-right Media Research Center (MRC) has released a new report today declaring overwhelmingly positive media coverage of Barack Obama in the network evening news broadcasts. I've scrutinized part of the study and media coverage during one month, and this simple look at reality indicates that MRC is intentionally lying about the media coverage.

Why Obama's VP Strategy Is Brilliant

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:21:43 PM PDT

As the media twists itself into knots wondering who Barack Obama will choose as his Vice Presidential running mate (and when), Obama and company are sitting back and enjoying all the attention lavished on their campaign by the endless procession of speculation.  And the media, for its part, is all too happy to oblige.   Monday it was Joe Biden, Tuesday it was Kathleen Sebelius.  Today, it's Caroline Kennedy.  The media needs something new to talk about every day -- so a new person gets suggested daily, and the 24-hour discussion takes root.

In short, it's genius.

Wait for it, wait for it, the order will come!

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:10:41 PM PDT

I see many posts here and elsewhere calling for Barack Obama to basically unleash the dogs and let the battle commence against McCain and the GOP, I too am impatiant for such to occur and have partaken slightly in baiting Republican supporters on other forums almost as a type of blood-sport.

But if 'we' trust Obama, and we must do if we feel he is the person to be President, then we should wait until 'he' gives the command for the hounds of hell to be let go on the Republican smears, deceits, and pure lies that is once again the only platform the Republicans have for their campaign in this General Election.  At the moment it would seem that Obama is biding his time, as any good C-in-C should, knowing that there is a specific time to launch an attack, and extremely rarely is that when your opponents wish you too.  Strategically McCain and the Republicans have started their dirty campaign way too early, if they had had sense they should have waited until after the Democratic Convention, because from the first dirty shots by McCain 'everybody' has been waiting for Obama's response, and like a good general Obama will not be rushed to respond by his opponents snivelling accusations.

Let us trust Barack Obama, if we cannot do that now then we are wrong to support him for President.

If I Listened to a Lot of You, I'd Go Insane (w/Poll)

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:08:28 PM PDT

I'm really thinking of swearing off DKos for a while.

I can't take the freakouts.

I can't take the sniping between Obama and Hillary supporters that is STILL taking place, even though unity is our most desperate and urgent need.

I can't take the people who have thrown in the towel already.

I can't take the idiots who say they won't vote for Obama ("I'll just leave it blank") because he doesn't agree with them 100% of the time.

I can't take the people who are crying and whining about how close the presidential election is who REFUSE to lift a finger to do ANYTHING to help.

There's more. A lot more.

Your Veep Is NOBODY - Yep, You Heard Me

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 02:02:37 PM PDT

In the 1990s, all of America was treated to "a show about nothing," and it was an instant classic.

I thought about Seinfeld when reading all the diaries about who Barack Obama absolutely cannot pick.  Apparently, every single possible VP is no good.

And then it hit me.

Obama - NOBODY 2008

To paraphrase George Costanza, everybody's always picked somebody for Vice President.  Barack Obama should pick nobody.  Literally, nobody.

Obama Links Abramoff - McCain in Negative Georgia Ad + Dr. Strangelove Meme is born

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 01:59:15 PM PDT

More Please!  At the moment only airing in Georgia... CNN?  This is the first true Obama "Kidney Punch" of the season, lets see if the Media bites.  Clearly it indicates a foul quid-pro-quo... low blow yes... effective? YES  Finally some Chicago style bloodsport...

Script

"It was one of Washington’s biggest scandals. And the Republican power broker Ralph Reed was in the middle of it. In deep with convicted felon and lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

"But when the Senate investigated, the senator in charge never even called Reed to testify....And that senator? John McCain. And who’s now raising money for McCain’s campaign? Ralph Reed. For 26 years in Washington, John McCain’s played the same old games. We just can’t afford more of the same."

This week in 2004: Kerry up by 4 points

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 01:58:16 PM PDT

Many of us felt that we couldn’t possibly lose to Bush—he was just so obviously bad for our country. At that moment, many of us felt like this could be it. This could be the election when we beat the Right, ended the Bush nightmare, and put a (decently) progressive candidate in the White House. We were wrong.

As we’ve seen Obama’s lead in the polls vanish over the past few weeks (the latest Zogby poll shows McCain with a 1 point lead), it’s a fitting reminder: this year’s fight will be at least as hard as ’04. You can follow the latest polls compared with the same week in 2004 by clicking here. http://www.progressivefuture.org/...

Obama is letting McCain dictate the pace of the game

Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 01:50:20 PM PDT

A caller named, Dee, on Ed Shultz's show today put into words what I have been thinking these past few weeks.  Barack Obama has been playing McCain's game, submitting to his slow pace.  Other than Berlin, when was the last time Obama had a rally of 10,000 plus people?  I can't think of one.  Why piddle around with small events when he can fill stadiums?

Obama's strength is to inspire and he should be playing to it.  When Obama was drawing big crowds, it drew in the local and national media.  Chris Matthews was feeling thrills go up his legs.  And I was getting goosebumps daily.

It is time to start playing the Obama style of game.  Let McCain call him a celebrity.  He should be one.  I want to see Obama filling baseball and football stadiums around the country.  Do a minor league ballpark tour through the South.  Fill football stadiums in the plains and Southwest.  Bring the excitement back into this campaign.  Inspire the young and old alike.

And bring back the idea of CHANGE!
