ABC censors anti-Faux references on Boston Legal

Fri Mar 11, 2005 at 08:19:15 PM PDT

Up-front disclaimer: If this has already been here, I apologize. I haven't seen it, and I did search for it (on dKos site, that is). (See below for sources.)

This week's episode of Boston Legal on ABC television was originally to give Faux News a hard time. Now, suddenly, ABC (owned by Disney) has ordered all of that purged. Talk about your chilling factor. Read for yourself in this article from AlterNet.

Thanks for posting this - a very concrete reminder of how powerful and oppressive the right-wing is.
Small suggestion for improving the diary - perhaps include just one example of the Boston Legal script before and after it was censored, so people can get a better sense of what the diary is about.

I can't wait until Michael Eisner steps down as Disney's chief wingnut. He's the brilliant mind who let PIXAR walk out the door, and who turned down Fahrenheit 911, the highest grossing documentary in history. Once he hits the curb, perhaps the Roy Disney faction will be able to regain control, and return Disney to its once great status.

As for ABC: now that NYPD Blue has bowed, and Boston Legal has officially jumped the shark (as if cast additions Candice Bergen and Betty White weren't obvious enough clues), it will be no problem to boycott ABC. The only other ABC show I ever watch is the occasional This Week with George Stephanopoulos, and that's only when he has a great guest. Besides, I get my real news from The Daily Show.

The Constitution may not be perfect, but it's a lot better than what we've got!
